Hello I am Kim, Facilitator and creator here at Farmer equine interactions. I have always wanted to help people from a very young age. I decided I wanted to be Nurse. I followed this dream and qualified as a general Nurse in 2009. My career so far has encompassed vascular surgery, intensive care, community nursing and my current role community respiratory nursing which I currently do alongside my new purpose in life facilitating equine interactions.
From my years of experience supporting people through traumatic events, chronic illness and coming to terms with their lives changing because of their physical health, one thing has become very apparent: those with resilience and good mental health, heal quicker, remain independent longer and are happier than those who are struggling with low mood and mental health struggles which has made me realise mental well-being is just as important as our physical health.
I have been around horses and animals in general all my life. I could ride before I could walk. Personally, they are my happy place, they allow me the space to leave the stresses of life behind and be truly present, I can be my true authentic self as horses do not judge they simply are. Horses living in the moment which is a lesson I feel a lot people struggle with as we are so busy worrying about the future and scrutinising our pasts that we forget about the present which leaves us exhausted, overwhelmed and eventually we burn out.
What I want to achieve at Farmer equine interaction is to help people build resilience and learn tools to overcome the stress and challenges and find their joy in life. I truly believe with the guidance of horses we can transform and take control of our own happiness.
